Hardwood

Hardwood flooring combines natural beauty and long-lasting durability — a timeless choice that stands the test of time

Look

Nowadays you can pretty much custom configure colour, board-width, species and grade to your liking. Choose a board width from 1 ½” to 7”+, a colour grade from bleach white to charcoal black, a domestic species from traditional Oak to characteristic Hickory, and a level of grain and colour variation from clean to rustic.

Feel

Texture is the 4th dimension. With modern milling methods, hardwood is now available in textured formats that add dimension to the hardwood’s surface: from the subtle undulations of ‘wire-brushed’ to the distinctive grooves of ‘hand-scraped.’ Bevels also vary from subtle to pronounced.

Performance

While hardwood always stands the test of time, durability and maintenance requirements vary from product to product. Consider the amount of traffic that your floor will determine and the maintenance schedule you are looking for.

Which Room?

Hardwood’s only limitation is that it absorbs moisture. It is well suited for nearly every room: the living room, dining room, bedroom, kitchen, hallway and stairway, etc. With the introduction of engineered formats, hardwood can even be installed in basements and condominiums. The sky is the limit.

Pre-Finished Hardwood

Pre-finished hardwood is sanded and finished in the factory, so it makes the installation process quicker. Manufacturers have developed modern finishes that contain strengthening additives like aluminum and titanium, so pre-finished hardwood products offer the strongest and most durable finishes.

Engineered Hardwood

Engineered hardwood has a real wood veneer over a composite core. This makes it an especially stable product, so it can be installed on subfloors that the other formats cannot. If you want to put hardwood in your basement or condo, the engineered format will make that possible.

Site-Finished Hardwood

Site-finished hardwood is sanded and finished on-site after it has been installed. With site-finished hardwood, you have vastly customizable stain colours and gloss levels to choose from. When it comes time for a refresh, you will definitely be able to have your site-finished floor re-sanded and finished.
